Programs

Founded in 2004, The Baobab Home is a small, community-focused NGO located on a 12 acre farm where we grow fresh fruits and vegetables, and raise fish, poultry and cows just outside of Bagamoyo, Tanzania.

Our mission is to help children from families affected by HIV/AIDS, mental illness, and poverty.

Our vision is to improve the future of Tanzania’s most vulnerable children.

Our programs have evolved over the years to meet the changing needs of our community. Currently, we run the following main programs:

  • Children's Home: a family-style home for orphaned and vulnerable children, whose families are unable to care for them due to the impacts of HIV/AIDs, mental illness, or poverty.
  • Steven Tito Academy: English-medium, charity primary school that opened in 2012 to serve the children of the local community.
  • Regenerative Farm: 12 acres of arable land where we manage fishponds, cows, poultry, a biogas system, fruit trees, and several organic gardens.
  • Breakfast Program: daily breakfast served to HIV/AIDS patients at the district hospital serving 1600 patients per month.
  • Outreach: assistance to individuals in the community who are in need. This program is run on a case-by-case basis.

You can help The Baobab Home continue its work by making a one-time donation, or supporting us monthly.

You can also join our small but very dynamic international team volunteering for us in Tanzania, or from your home!
